The person behind the work / 02

Meet the maker.

I’m Ben. I started I Wood Build in 2015 with the help of my uncle, and a lot of passion for creating specialized architectural and fine woodwork for residential spaces.

I am proud to be an independent Canadian carpenter, collaborating with local artists and artisans to ensure each project is as unique as the last.

Whether it’s working with clientele to make gorgeous live-edge additions to their homes, shops, or businesses, or creating treasured family heirlooms built to last, I am dedicated to perfection in each project.

Have wood with a story? Tell us about it. We can discuss whether the material is suitable for the project.

How custom
work goes.

A clear scope and a shared understanding before the making begins.

  1. Start with a conversation.

Email your ideas, photos or sketches, any dimensions you have, your location and a budget range. We can arrange a call after looking at the project.

  2. Put the plan in writing.

We work through the scope, estimate and assumptions together, with drawings and sign-offs where needed.

  3. Book the work.

The agreed deposit comes before booking and building. Scheduling follows deposit order; timing is confirmed directly for your project.

  4. Make it with care.

With the details agreed, the piece takes shape. Any requested changes are discussed individually before the changed work begins.

If the design or scope changes

If you request a change to the approved design or scope, we will discuss it with you and agree in writing on the change, any additional cost and any effect on timing. Any agreed additional cost must be paid in full before we order additional materials or begin the changed work. Your existing contract and applicable rights remain in effect.
